Most people will remember the tragic events on Monday 22nd May 2017 when a Suicide bomber struck in Manchester. Along with our Police, Fire and Ambulance colleagues, two of our volunteer responders Dr Richard Smith and Dr Tim Smith attended the scene. Armed with a host of advanced skills and experience, the two doctors were able to support the Ambulance Service in the treatment of the casualties.

One of our other responders, Dr Scott Beattie who works at one of the Major Trauma Centres, Salford Royal Hospital in Manchester, had just finished his shift. He offered to go to the scene, however, was requested to remain at work as the Consultant in the Major Incident room.

Our other volunteer responders who did not go to the scene were on standby and covered the rest of the area for the rest of the week allowing people time to recover and reflect. We are one big family and are grateful for everyone’s efforts during the difficult incident and the week proceeding.
