The CSIBASICS team are pleased to have been awarded £50,000 to purchase a brand new rapid response vehicle.
The BASICS (British Association for Immediate Care) charity, who are our parent organisation, received a £250,000 donation from the County Air Ambulance HELP Appeal, to be used to support local BASICS Immediate Care Schemes.
BASICS schemes respond throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland and provide specially trained doctors, nurses and paramedics who volunteer to support the NHS ambulance trusts in providing enhanced care at the roadside, in people’s homes or workplaces.
The Chairman of BASICS Tony Kemp said: “this is a very exciting and tremendously generous donation from the HELP Appeal. This will support our schemes to grow and allow them to equip their members to the highest level to respond safely so as to save lives and support an exceptional quality of patient care within the pre-hospital environment”.
Robert Bertram, Chief Executive of the HELP Appeal said: “BASICS volunteers are lifesavers – it’s as simple as that. Not only do they have demanding and extremely challenging jobs helping patients every day, but they also give up their free time to help save lives by supporting the UK ambulance service, 365 days of the year. Whether patients are seriously injured in a traffic accident or a terrorist attack, this new funding will help these amazing volunteers arrive at the scene as quickly and as safely as possible to help save lives.”
BASICS is a national charity founded in 1977 that provides specially trained volunteer doctors, nurses and paramedics to attend serious illness and injury to work alongside NHS Ambulance Trusts amongst others.
The HELP Appeal was created 10 years ago by the County Air Ambulance Trust. It is the only charity in the country dedicated to funding NHS hospital helipads.
We look forward to getting our new vehicle ‘live’ around May next year which will complement our existing vehicle.
